Smartphone Photo & Video for Young Creatives

Looking to enhance your smartphone photography and video capturing skills? Want to​ ​take your images and videos to another level of creativity? This 5 day virtual course will teach you how to capture creatively, enhance, and share images/video in order to support engagement on social media. Students will also explore a variety of free and low cost applications that can support editing images and video right on your phone.

*Please note that this class is intended for iPhone users but all phones are welcome!

About the instructor
Aitina Fareed-Cooke is an award-winning photographer and an accomplished Christian Hip Hop artist, (A.I. The Anomaly) standing as the first female to be signed to one of Christian Hip Hop’s notable labels, God Over Money. She has been recognized by 43North’s Ignite Buffalo winning the People’s Choice Award, CEPA Gallery-Exhibition Award, the National Society of Leadership & Success-Excellence in Teaching Award, Kingdom Choice Award, and more.

Cyanotypes, Anthotypes, Haikus & More

Join artist Jeannine Swallow for a week of unique photographic processes and assignments. Using the sun, create photos and make your own light sensitive materials using flowers and plants. Go on a scavenger hunt using a single use film camera to learn how to take great photographs. All materials will be provided.

About the instructor
Jeannine Swallow is a Buffalo native and Photographic Artist. She is passionate about analogue photography and alternative processes. She received her Associates degree from Villa Maria College and later a BFA in Visual Studies, at the University of Buffalo. Owner and operator of FilmXposed, a local photography business specializing in creating contemporary and often surreal images; with a strong focus on multiple exposures. Swallow possess an avid love for travel and has exhibited both internationally and through out the Buffalo area.


Digital Photography

Students can use whatever digital camera they have at home including a phone. The class will consist of looking and talking about images and learning how to take a strong, meaningful photograph. Daily assignments will focus on creativity and students will have the opportunity to share their photos with their peers.

About the instructor
Saffi Rigberg is a photographer and photography instructor with a focus on children, families, and the special needs community. She approaches both her personal work and work as an instructor with an element of inquisitiveness, self-exploration, and play. Using mindfulness in her workshops, she aims to teach the individual how to observe as a means of capturing the subject in a uniquely thoughtful way.
