BIO: Patti Ambrogi’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including Visual Studies Workshop, CEPA Gallery, Burchfield Penney Art Center, Tokyo Polytechnic Institute, The Center for Book Arts, Boston Cyberarts Festival, Menschel Gallery, Memorial Art Gallery, and George Eastman House. Ambrogi’s recent work explores environmental imaging, investigating how knowledge and understanding evolve through our continuing observations and interactions with the things we believe are true.

STATEMENT: The many chapters of The Geographies map a progression of recurring journeys on land preserved through various forms of management. The pictures explore our conceptions and idealizations of nature. At the same time they tell the story on the ground and from the woods, of the political decisions we stewards face as we enact a framework to counter the harsh actions of the administration’s reversal of nearly 60 environmental regulations….so far. The Bentley Woods imagery documents a landlocked preserve. It traces the boundaries of the preserve, the vegetation and trees as they touch subdivisions, hunting areas, and private land along the edges and beyond, a nature beyond protection, giving rise to The Rebel Forest and this photograph.
