He is the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships including the American Academy in Rome, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation. STATEMENT: The Habitorium series makes a study of constructed spaces — those interior and exterior areas designed to satisfy the emotional and bodily needs of its occupants. I am interested in both the sublime and bucolic cultural conceits developed through Romantic era landscape traditions, and how these ideas can be compartmentalized to form post-naturalistic landscapes that reveal how extremely studied life is.
